For starters, I made my doctor a happy man when I finally quit smoking. I don't really crave them. I joined a website called Shop4freebies and get , well, free stuff - food (both the real size and samples), shampoo, cologne, soap, zip lock bags, all kinds of things that have saved bucks. Also on this site I got a sample of Commit quit smoking capuccino lozenges and I got enough to help me really stop quitting.
Second, I climbed down off of my high horse (as Grandma used to say) and started buying some wines in boxes rather than bottles. A regular bottle is 750 ml and can cost a lot, but the traditional boxed wines (Franzia, Almanden, etc.) are a full five liters for, usually, under $15. That is fine to serve when your guests don't know wine and they actually taste ok to everybody (so far, keep my fingers crossed).
Those are the two vices that cost megabucks for me. The extra money, I use to pay off credit card debt. |
