We bought the Brother multi-function Fax, Copier, Scanner & Printer from Costco for about $75 using their coupon and ordering online. I have never had any other unit that can do so much and costs so little...comparatively speaking.

my husband and i went to microcenter the other day to look at all-in-one printers. hard to tell online and wanted to make sure that we were getting a scanner that could autofeed multiple pages, but was hard to figure that out from the specs online. the microcenter salesman recommended the HP J6480 All-in-One ink jet printer, fax, scanner, copier saying that it was more durable than the HP J4680 and that has great print quality. plus it is wireless which is great for my small office. but was $199.99 the J4680 was $129.99.

I really liked look of the Canon Pixma MX310 and the rep said that was a great unit too. Much smaller and sleeker than the HP and supposed to be a great long lasting item. Was on sale for $109.99.

Lastly looked at a brother that was wireless and selling for $69.99. but the rep said that the all-in-one brothers were not that reliable or durable (i have a laser brother printer that I really like), but not sure if he was selling us a line just ot make a sale on a more expensive item.

So, we went home and compared prices online. We ended up getting the HP 4680 for $101.99 (cashing in on msn live cashback)so save almost 30 dollars. But defintiely was nice seeing the item live so we coulc make sure it was what we wanted and had all of the features we wanted. Still $101 for an autofeed scanner all-in one is pretty good. particularly when stand alone scanners start at $100.

I heard the canon pixma mx310 is good too. mainly becasue good quality and canon made cheaper ink cartridges.

When you buy it, be sure the ink replacements are reasonable. If they aren't get another unit, or you'll find you won't use it.

For $99 at Walmart, I bought the BEST printer/copier and scanner by Kodak. ink is cheap, it is going on 2 years now and never had a problem. It also does the best pictures!

am so frustrated right now. spent hours researching printer scanner combos and found the specs are so confusing. not also clear what the optiosn are. wanted a freaking scanner that was autofeed and even the salesman that i talked to said that the HP j4680 had an autofeed scanner. so I ordered from best buy and now have a stupid flatbed scanner.

So be warned read every single spec page and don't believe the salesmen. I feel like you are better buying this in stores to make sure that you are getting exactly what you want.

So, I took my scanner back to circuit city and explained that I wanted a scanner that would auto feed. And the clerk, although he wasn't positive, said that if you have a fax feed that should work for your scanner as well and that they just feed through the flat bed scanner. so am back home testing it now. The sales clerk definitely wasn't sure, so at least I don't feel as bad about being confused by this.

I got home and tested out my printer and it does do multipage autofeeds through the flatbed. Just wish is was more clear on the specs what the scanner options are.

Rule of thumb could be that if there is an auto feed for the fax there is one for the scanner as they both function in the same way.
