Good point. how did you come up with $255.55?
I do get the message though, the small change adds up over time.

It sound good ,but a penny a day for a year is only $3.65 .But everytime you buy something pay with bills only and keep all the change that you get (such as quarter, nickel, dimes and penny)and put in a jar or bank .At the end of the year you would be very surprise of how much you have.Is like using your credit card for a month without keeping up with the balance. Then when the bill comes in you will say I can't believe that I spend that much . You spend that much because your mind forgot about it,until the bill came in .That also work with change You put in the bank.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "pennies from Heaven"? My neighbor pointed something out to me recently that I knew of, but had forgotten. What's the four words on our money? "In God we trust".....so in these hard times, I'm going to stash away all the loose change that is hiding in my couch, under my seats in my car and such. Like a comment listed above, every penney, nickel, dime and especially quarters will help!

Listen. Like most of you who posted in here, saving pennies is easy. In fact, whenever and all the time when my wife and I go to wal-mart, the grocery store, walk in parking lots to and from those places and just anywhere and everywhere, you are guaranted to find at least one penny. If you find more then great. I also do this to boost the penny savings. Whenever I go to the gas station, i look not just on the floor for pennies, but in the penny dish that sits in front of the cash register for those customers who don't have the exact change they need sometimes. This works in your favor. The next time you go to the gas station to buy gas or a soda, when checking out, look in the penny dish. If there are pennies in it, grab some or all of them. They are only pennies to the clerk and he/she could care less if you take them. If you are curious as to other saving ideas I have please email me at mbruc0017281 at yahoo dot com.

Taking pennies from the penny jar is theft! Cheap is one thing stealing is another.

Michael... the pennies are there so that customers do not need to receive a bunch of pennies in change, but can receive the next denomination up. Taking all the pennies from the penny dish is stealing from other customers. I agree with Sem that it is theft. It could almost be the same analogy as someone walking into your place and taking all your "change in jars" lying around. I hope you don't do this in the future.

yea but just think about if you saved 1 dollar a day! I babysit and work in a church daycare one day a week, So i take my paychewck each payday (for just two days work so its only $60) and put that towards our finances, then after all our bills are paid there is still 100 left over me and my husband to use as "spending" money. The 60 a week that I get for babysitting goes to the savings (240 a month is a lot to us, almost 300 in one year and since this is the first year we are able to save anything it will be hard. but i think that paying for stuff just in cash and stashing the coins is a great way to save, I checked it out last time we got paid, and after all my errands in one day I had over 7 dollars in change....
