Use a Flowbee to Cut Your Own Hair

Submitted by: anonymous  01/01/2009 8:59 AM

I purchased a Flowbee in May of 1994. I have been using it to cut my own hair since then. Still using the same one I might add. I have also been using it to cut my two sons hair. The hose slides on to a vacuum cleaner and as it sucks your hair into the unit the blades cut your hair at a length determined by spacers added to the unit. According to the manual, it can cut hair up to 6 inches long. I have not been back to the barber since then. I would guess conservatively that I have saved at least 1500.00 over the past 15 years and it only cost 49.00 for the unit. I think they can still be purchased at flowbee.com. Sam

My husband uses a flowbee. It does a great job on his hair. If I didn't know better, I would have thought he had his hair cut by a stylist or a barber. He's been using the Flowbee for at least 10 years.

Those flowbees really do work! Funny name, but a great product.

We also own a flowbee and in 20 years has my son only visited the barber one time (1st year school pics.) But I could not imagine going without it in my house. Great money saver and looks like the boys and my husband got professional cuts.

I have had a flowbee since the late 80's or so. Not only has it saved me probably over $10,000, literally, it also does BETTER haircuts than many barbers. Barbers were never consistent.

The flowbee ALWAYS does what you say. Furthermore I am an actor and need to keep my hair long but be able to cut it immediately the next day if I have a part the next day that needs short hair like a cop. This way I can get parts for both long and short hair.

And there is no cleanup since the vacuum sucks it up as you cut.

My flowbee has lasted all this time. I always laugh at people going to the barber. I would never do it again.

Great idea. Also check out the RoboCut which I have found to be a great alternative to the Flowbee:
