Sell Your Used Cell Phone

Submitted by: anonymous  04/29/2008 4:17 PM

If you have an old cell phone, look to sell it to help cover some (probably a small portion) of the cost of your new phone. You can try listing on Ebay or CraigsList and see what you can get (do a few searches first for phones like yours or similar to yours so you know what to expect/ask for). You can also try going through sites that specialize this, such as cellforcash.com.

I came across CellforCash.com too. It’s a really cool program. You select your phone from a series of drop-down menus, they tell you what it’s worth, then they send you a box that you use to send the phone to them (postage is paid for). You then get a check in the mail. They take the phones and fix them up and then sell them to other parts of the world.

I’ve used that service too. You must have your phone charger with the phone.

There's also www.flipswap.com that allows you to get cash for your old cell phone or donate it.

I like this advice but I did my research based on the advice and the information provided in the comments. CellforCash.com was going to give me $25 for my LG En-v I got 2 years ago. I sold it on ebay for $123.00. If you have an older model and no cash. Donate to the hubbard house for battered women. Even though it does not have a contract these women can still use it to call 911 to save their lives.

This company has an F with the BBB and they have yet to pay me for my phone that I sent in almost 2 months ago and do not return emails or calls - I would suggest some other company than Cellforcash.com

The absolute best deal currently out there is the "Straight Talk" plan through Walmart. No contract, but you must purchase their phone and
buy a card monthly. (No taxes or fees either) They have 3 phones to choose from...the cheapest is $30, the most expensive is $100. These are good quality phones too. There are 2 plans to choose from..one plan is $30 a month for 1,000 minutes and 1,000 texts. The other plan is $45 for unlimited EVERYTHING.
We got these for 2 of our kids and so far it's been GREAT! Less expensive than the prepaid cell plans. I will never put my kids on our plan because I don't want those unexpected charges that shoot your bill through the roof.
