Check the Scholastic books web site to see if there is a warehouse near you. A few times a year they have warehouse sales that are open to the public. The savings are incredible.

To boot, if you register on the web site, you can print out a coupon for $10 off your $50 purchase.

And, at some sales you can volunteer in exchange for sale credit.

I volunteered at one have and ended up buying 15 books for 47 cents!

I went to one of these and had my expectations toooo high. I had previewed the website beforehand and made out a wishlist. I get to the "warehouse" and find that they have very little of the popular scholastic publications - like Bob books or Magic School Bus. Instead I find a very limited selection and the discounts on all but a hand full of books weren't that deep.

Instead of going with a book list, I would have been better off going in there with a list of gifts needed for upcoming birthday parties, that sort of thing. Keep your expectations low.
