Create Your Own 'At Home' Movie Experience

Submitted by: anonymous  01/09/2009 3:27 PM

Buy a projector. Subscribe to Netflix or borrow DVD's from the library. Invite friends to bring their films. We no longer go to the movies, as they are $9 a show. Even bargain hours are a lot more now.
Someone gave us a six foot screen, (helps to have rich friends with too much stuff) but if you have a white wall, you can project movies. The experience is better than the theater. Nobody coming late, walking in front of you, talking, etc.
This is an investment that has paid off handsomely for us. We used to go to new movies once a week but no longer.

Great tip.

You can also make your own popcorn very cheaply without paying ridiculous movie popcorn prices.

You can also get free coupon codes off the internet for free Redbox video kiosk rentals. You can even go to the Redbox website and they will text message you with a free video coupon code for Monday and Wednesday rentals.

We do this at home. The kids take turns picking a movie from the library or occassionally from pay-per-view and we make homemade pizza & popcorn. We can watch the movies in our PJ's and we don't have to worry about anyone having to go to the bathroom or talking. Plus we save on gas since we don't have to drive there.

My family does that too. I got the kids to color movie signs and I put up a sign on our coffee table that says concession stand. The kids had fun doing all of this so far a very small fee I got all the signs lamenated for future use.

We bought a big screen LCD TV and now have the time of our lives watching as a family. We also have video freak friends that bring their movies to share. I am sure after about a hundred years we will have amortized the cost of the TV, but it sure is fun getting together with our friends to share movies and fellowship. We pop corn, make snack trays and generally have a great time sharing our home and big TV. BTW, if you can get the Anne of Green Gables series from your library, do it. It is wonderful watching for all ages, but especially for the young folks.
