Grocery Shopping Strategies: Sales, Coupons and Stockpiling

Submitted by: 2vette2camaro  02/07/2009 5:32 PM

In the past year and a half I have learned a new way to shop and save. The best way to do what I am talking about is by combining a store sale with a coupon and then getting multiple coupons and "stocking up". For instance, a local grocery store had Rotel for .89 a can. I had multiple coupons for .30 off and since the store doubles that makes it .60 so .29 a can for Rotel. I stock up and sometimes get upwards of 50-100 cans of a particular item when it is on sale like this.

I also do this with other food items, toothpaste, toilet paper, deodorant, etc. Anything that you use on a regular basis and will always need, stockpile when it is on sale.

Last March there was a coupon for .75 off a can of Sweet Sue chicken. I got many multiples by trading on line with other people and by buying them on Ebay. We just recently got down to 14 cans left when lo and behold they put out the same coupon again. Always stockpile and that way you can "shop" in your own home.

If you get too much of any one item, then offer to sell it to friends or barter for what they may have.
