Use a Shorter Cycle with Your Washing Machines

Submitted by: anonymous  02/09/2009 8:06 AM

I have found that I can use a shorter cleaning cycle on my dishwasher. Often the "quick wash" or "china and crystal" setting will do the trick, as I usually rinse the dishes first. I also use the air dry feature to save energy.

The same goes for laundry. "Quick wash" or the "light" setting is often all that is needed.

I stopped throwing money away in my laundry room and what is even better is I stopped harming the environment at the same time. I installed a device that hooks up to my washing machine that allows me to wash my clothes without soap and without hot water. ANd my clothes come out cleaner then they did with soap and hot water! And now since I don't use soap I don't have to buy it any more and also saving money by not using hot water when I wash my clothes. I also stopped using the extra rinse cycle and my clothes dry faster so less drying time also!
I feel better know that I am helping the environment and not dumping polluted water into our water system.

you can do the same thing with your dishwasher and save a bundle; turn off the water heating element cycle ....and the dish drying element cycle.

and if you keep the dishwasher closed for at least an hour after it's finished....your dishes will be dry from the thermal warmth of the washing rinsing process.

So, what in the world is this device you hook up to your washing machine? Do you have a name for it? A link?
