Barter Almost Anywhere. Just Ask.

Submitted by: anonymous  02/09/2009 8:13 AM

My friend was interested in a patio set at Walmart. She asked to speak with the manager. She then asked when it would be on sale and if he could do any better on the price that day. He reduced the price by 20%. She never makes a purchase anywhere, over $100.00 without talking to the manager. She says to expect 10-20% off. And the worst that can happen is that they say no. It's always worth a try. More times than not I have been pleasantly surprised.

This would be negotiating or "haggling", not bartering.

Bartering often involves an exchange of services: I'll paint your living room if you'll walk my dog daily for the next month. Or whatever.
