Money Saver for Nail Polish

I keep nail polish in my refrigerator. This keeps it from getting thick. Before I started doing this, I kept it in my bathroom cabinet and within a couple of months or so it would get thick and gunky and would need to be tossed and another one bought. In the refrigerator it seems to last forever (at least mine has been in there a long time). I read this tip somewhere several years ago.

You can also add nail polish thinner and shake well. It works and polish doesn't expire!

I don't understant how this can work. Doesn't paint get thicker when it gets cold and thinner when it gets hot?
