We acquired my hubbies dads vehicle for free, it is still in his name with us on the insurance. he doesnt want it and doesn't care if we use it,he's not ready to give it up yet though.
We only pay for his dads insurance and title and upkeep of the car. We can do most of the upkeep ourselves for pennies. We save $400 or more a month by not having to lease a nice new or used vehicle. Plus the old beater gets better gas mileage and costs less for parts/labor and oil changes because we do the oil change ourself and much of the parts can be found at auto shops or even the dump. Many mechanics in our neighbor hood and our social circles willing to discount the cost of labor for cash that they don't have to share with their auto shop. They make side money,we get a discount and we don't pay for an auto lease. |
