typically around back to school times you can find folders a penny each,packs of paper,boxes of pens,pencils and crayons for 2-5 cents each. The tonor and printer paper is marked down to. three ring binders,boxes of markers,scissors,rulers and colored pencils run a quarter or less.
I have found bottles of tempura paint for 33 cents each in primary colors my kids can mix and use during breaks or a rainy day.
Look at your adds around back to school time, get cash and give each member of your family a list and money, Hit the stores several times a week during these sales with all your family and neighbors or friends in full force. keep some for your kids/home office etc and donate the rest to your school. What a great time to stock up on supplies you and your kids need while helping your school that will desperately need it in these tough times as well.
This is also a great way to donate supplies to your church,temple or mosque for religous training of elders,members and kids. You can donate some supplies to your local community center or food bank. often families with kids who use these services also look to these places to provide help with school supplies as well.
another tip is to sighn up for a discount card/club or mailing list with your office depot/max and you will recieve coupons and gift cards in the mail free.
I get coupons every month sometimes twice with cards that give us $25 off a $50-$75 purchase of office supplies furniture etc.
SOmetimes there are exclusions but most of the time its good towards anything. Many office stores also sell snacks,cleaning items,coffee,art supplies and activity books for kids. SO if I don't have any thing I need I might go down and buy some coffee/tea on sale in the single use packages by the case and activities and art supplies for the kids.
I will set these aside and break them up to use in gift bags and gift boxes during the year.
Coffee,tea and candy for my kids teachers,my neighbor or my relatives. Art gift bags for my kids or for their friend at a birthday party. These items are typically really marked down after holidays/ends of seasons and during back to school. |
