Cracker lovers may have to put some of their snack plans on ice as Ritz has just announced a major recall for some of its products. You’ll temporarily have to find another crunchy bite to take its place if your favorite is on the list.

As a precautionary measure, Ritz’s parent company, Mondelēz Global is issuing the recall due to concerns about salmonella contamination. This affects products sold in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

One of the ingredients – whey – could possibly be tainted with the bacteria according to one of its suppliers. To date, no illnesses or deaths have been reported in connection with any Ritz products, but consumers are being asked to discard any products they may have.

Symptoms of a salmonella infection include abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, chills, fatigue, or nausea. If you suspect you are experiencing the illness, follow up with a medical provider immediately for treatment.
